The art of iris folding is done by arranging and layering strips of paper in a spiral pattern that resembles the iris of a camera upon completion.

To make this design you begin by taking a sheet of card and die cutting the hot air balloon, rope and basket shapes into a sheet of cardstock. Place the numbered template behind your die cut card and attach it with masking tape to keep it in place. Next, take a strip of coloured paper, fold it in half and secure it over the desired space on the design using tape and repeat the process until all the gaps have been filled. Once you have finished simply turn your design over and you should be left with a stunning iris folded hot air balloon paper pattern. Use the remaining dies to add further decoration.
